On September 26 and 27, the second CITADEL consortium meeting took place in Bilbao and Langreo. On the first day, the SIDENOR plant in Bilbao was visited. Here, demo case 3 is being implemented, which includes the electrification of a tundish as well as the preheating of the steel ladles. On the second day, the meeting continued with a visit to Ceramica del Nalon in Langreo. Here, work is being done on demo case 1, which involves replacing gas burners with plasma burners in a tunnel kiln. During the meeting, the envisaged concepts for the electrification of these industrial processes were discussed in detail.
